Q: Connected but no internet access

I just swapped my old router out for a 2TB Time Capsule. It set up, but is not giving me access to the internet.

Any troubleshooting suggestions?

    What kind of internet do you have? Actual modem.. make model? Is it a router as well as modem.. what old router did you have.. what mode did it work in.. router or bridge?

     

    If it is cable modem.. a pure modem.. shut down the modem.. shut down the TC.. wait at least 5min.. start up the modem.. wait another 2 min.. start up the TC.. wait 2min.. does the TC now have the public IP address. Please open the airport utility and get the exact errors that are listed.. No internet access is not enough.. we need to know what the TC is complaining about. If it has no IP or DNS. then go through the above process again.. but this time wait longer.. at least 15 min.. still fails then leave it off overnight.. you must wait out the time of the old lease to the old router.. once it renews then the TC can get the IP address.

     

    If you have a different modem/ISP tell us more.
