Ever since I upgraded to Mountain Lion, system preferences have been very slow to open, typically about 20 seconds. I have seen posts along these lines, but they typically relate to more serious problems with beach-balling, etc.; for me, system preferences appears to behave normally once it has opened.
This problem has persisted through system reboots, monthly/weekly/daily scripts, permissions repairs, etc., and no diusk errors are reported by Disk Utility or Onyx.
Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how to fix or work around it?
