HP la2306x Monitor Not Displaying with MBP Retina

Hi There

I just bought an HP Monitor la2306x, and tired to connect it with my Mac book pro Retina. I attempted the connection via HDMI Cable and a HDMI to Display Port Adapter, but the monitor didnt find the connection.

I then attached an HDMI to DVI adapter to the Monitor and still nothing, the Laptop did seem to notice that i connected another display as the screen went on and off but nothing was shown on the monitor.

Using the same connection i tried connectiong my PS3 and it connected through HDMI to DVI.

Can the monitor work with Macs? I didnt think it would be a issue

Just looking at the manual - http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13909_na/13909_na.pdf - it seems that you would only be able to use DVI, no HDMI ports on the dispaly, from what I can see. So it should work, I think, with a Mini DisplayPort to DVI connector, but I'm not so sure about an HDMI to DisplayPort.

You can find a Mini Display Port (Thunderbolt) to DVI adapter here, from Monoprice. Give it a shot.

Yea the monitor has not HDMI port but a Display Port, I purchased a HDMI to Display port Adapter so i can connect using the MPB's HDMI port.

I reset the PRAM or NVRAM and gonna see if that works!

Sorry so long in my reply - for some reason, all of my mail coming from the Apple Support communities are going to my Spam folder! Just started happening randomly!

I don't rely know that an HDMI to DisplayPort adapter will work on a MBPr... I would try a Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) to DisplayPort adapter and see if that works.

I dont get why the hdmi port on the MBPr does not work with the monitor, worked with my older montor which is an asus. will have to stay purchasing a mini display to HDMI/DVI and see if that works.

I bought a Mini display to HDMI and it worked, still dont get why the HDMI port on the MBPr doesnt work with it.
