Motorola v551 unable to setup bluetooth device

Some similar posts related to v551, but nothing specifically that addresses trying to "add a new device" within bluetooth.

I'm using a kensington USB adapter (just bought it), plugged into a powered USB hub.

Initially, the v551 recognized my wife's computer but stopped there. Couldn't add the v551 as a device on the Mac.

I tried it on my Mac and all I get is "0 devices found".

I did plug it into a PC running Win2K and it had no problem with finding it.
Apple says the v551 is supported.
The service provider is Rogers (in Canada), they say Mac's are supported.
I checked with the local Mac store, they are not aware of any issues with Rogers customers using iSync (never mind bluetooth setup).

I've even tried editing the MetaClasses.plist.

This was one of those things I was hoping would "just work".
