Open office crashes every minute, how do I do a fresh reinstall?

I often use writer for my essays, but recently it's become completely unusable as each time I start typing within a minute or so it will always crash. I can recover the document usually but it's a real pain doing this every minute.

Is there a way to uninstall all current open office programs and then reinstall them fresh?
