I cannot make in-app purchases - Clash of clans

I just bought a 25$ iTunes prepaid card, redeemed the card on my account all is good so far, then i open up my clash of clans game, and i click buy on a pack of gems for 19.99 and it keeps giving me this error.

"Your purchase could not be completed. Contact itunes store support to complete this transaction"

I have emailed them and still nothing, Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks,
Brandon.

I had the same problem with making in app purchases for Clash of Clans. An apple tech guy told me to go to expresslane.apple.com, click on itunes, then itunes store, then purchases billing redemption, then apple ID account billing, then United States, then click continue, and then click on Chat.

The rep I chatted with told me:

I appreciate your patience. I have made the necessary adjustments to your account. At this time I need you to sign out of your iTunes Store account, wait approximately 30 minutes, and then sign back in to the account. At that point, you should be able to purchase, download, make changes, and update your account normally.

I responded:

When you say "sign out" do you mean just sign out on my ipad, or do I sign out on my itunes software on my computer?

Rep said:

1.Tap Settings on the Home screen.

2.Tap iTunes & App Stores.

3.Tap on your Apple ID. (If you are not signed in, enter your Apple ID and password, and tap Sign In.)

4.sign out

I said:

Do I need to power down my ipad after doing these steps?

Rep said:

No that will not be necessary just signing out will be fine.

Summary:

I did as instructioned above and signed out after the itunes rep made the adjustment. Then I waited 30 minutes. Then I logged into Clash of Clans and the purchase worked.

So I guess the itune store really does have to make some adjustment on the account to get the in app purchase to work. The confusing thing was that the Clash of Clans error message just gave me a support website to go to and it wasn't clear at all what to do at this website. I couldn't even send an email there. Going to expresslane.apple.com as I detailed above and using the chat feature was obviously the advice I needed.

After spending a lot of time with Apple Support (who didn’t help) back and forth, and lots of (unreturned) emails to Supercell - I managed to find a solution. It’s pretty invasive and less than ideal.

First off, I performed these steps after the icons became greyed out because of a failed purchase attempt; still have no idea why it failed. It’s important to note that my account wasn’t charged when the transaction failed. If yours was, contact Apple Support and get a refund, if they can't fix it, then try this...

  1. Make sure your Clash of Clans is backed up into Game Centre. Login to Game Centre in the system settings of your device. You’ll know you’re logged in because when you open the app, a box at the top middle will say ‘Welcome back’. It will have the Game Centre logo next to it (it’s white/transparent in iOS 7 and above)
  2. Back your iDevice up into iTunes (or iCloud), incase anything goes wrong
  3. Make a list of all the apps on your iPad as we’ll be resetting it. You’ll also need to get your photos off it… Mac - connect via USB and open iPhoto, then just import everything to an event.** PC - Look in my computer, you should find the iDevice in there and then you can copy and paste the photos of the device into a folder. You can then sync this folder back to the device via iTunes as detailed in the footer of this message! Don’t forget to note down what email/social accounts you’ll need to setup as well.
  4. Here’s the tricky bit - before you erase your iPad, go through every app and find a way of backing up it’s data WITHOUT using iTunes backup. If we erase the iPad and restore from iTunes Backup, we’ll also restore the file which is causing the greyed out IAP error. (if I knew what file was causing it, I’d tell you!) For example, to backup ‘Triggerfist’ game - you have to make sure you’re logged into Game Centre; easy. Minecraft - you need to download some 3rd party software to access the internal files of the app (the files that contain your worlds); hard. It varies, really so Google is your best friend on this one.
  5. So once everything is backed up and written down, go ahead and disable Find my iPhone so that you can erase the device. Then go to settings > general > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings
  6. When the device reboots, set it up, don’t forget to sign in with your Apple ID so that Game Centre will work.
  7. Now head into the App Store and download Clash of Clans. When you open it you’ll be asked if you want to restore your world from Game Centre (tap LOAD). You’ve got your world and you’ll now be able to perform your in app purchase. If it hasn’t worked, and I see no reason for it not to, I’m very sorry. Go ahead and restore your iPad from the backup you made!
  8. Now, it’s over to you - you’ll need to restore all that data you manually backed up. One you’ve finished, relax! Play some CoC and cool off by sending angry emails to both Supercell and Apple (they’ll tell you it’s each others fault, but hey)

If you need help with how to manually backup your various apps, send me a message and I’ll get back to you 😉

So… lots of steps for a fairly simply problem. Maybe Supercell would know about it/fix it if they returned their emails! Hope it helps ;-) Please show your appreciation.

*here’s the minecraft software I mentioned. https://gigaom.com/2013/01/31/how-to-backup-and-restore-your-minecraft-worlds-be fore-updating-the-ios-app/ Scroll down this page, It’s called PhoneView - there’s a 7 day free trial.

** to get the photos back on, simply sync that event to the iPad (after you’ve fixed Clash of Clans) http://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201313

I'm not trying to be a "*****". I first thought you just began having this problem, that is why I said for you to wait at least 24 hours for a response. The later post said that no one here could assist you with this since it appears to be an account issue with iTunes and you would have to deal with their support to correct it. I also could not be aware if you have posted here before and for you to be aware that you are not addressing Apple here.

I hope you get your problem(s) taken care of.
