MAC Book Pro and Apple

I have a MAC Book Pro, late 2011, running OS 10.7.5. The Apple TV display option doesn't appear. Apple TV works fine with other devices such as my TV, iPad, iPhone, etc. Also, iTunes from the MAC works through the Apple TV just fine. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this?
