Restoring PROBLEM

I recently locked my iphone and forgot my password. So I attempted to 'hard-reset' it. As it was restoring, my iphone turned on and the whole restoring process stopped and took me to the lock screen, asking for my password. I tried re-doing the whole process again, turning it off and waiting for the screen with the USB and the iTunes, but now it doesn't come. I tried it about 3 times. It keeps taking me back to the lock screen. Should I try restoring it either way? Even when its on the lock screen and still asking for my password? Or what do I do? Pleasseeeeee help.
