iPhone4 won't sync and hasn't since 10-9-12

My iPhone 4 has not 'sunk' since 10-9-12. I have looked and followed the adivce of several people online. I have updated my computer software to Snow Leopard, restored to factory settings, turned off the apps in the cloud and tried to sync, deleted my last sync (so now I have nothing), and anything other idea I found on the internet. My husband's phone, he has the 4s, and both of my boys iPads are working perfectly fine. This is so frustrating!! Help!

Please and thank you!

iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.3

Music doesn't sync with iCloud (unless you have subscribed to iTunes Match). If you aren't an iTunes Match user, you have to sync your music from your computer using iTunes.

Also, when you say "step 8 of 8" that's syncing with iTunes, not iCloud. iCloud doesn't sync with your iTuens library. Are you syncing with iTunes over wifi or using your usb cable?

Also, when you go to Settings>iCloud, do you have Contacts turned to On?

I appreciate your patience.... Yes, syncing with iTunes.

I use a cable to sync. I have done one of the iTunes updates on wifi, but usually I'm connected.

Contacts are turned off, but our contacts used to sync through our iTunes account and evidently aren't now. I have been able to get new music and apps through iTunes.

I'm really not concerned with iCloud. I just mentioned it before because a thread said to do something with it and I am trying everything possible just to see if it will work.

First, as a precaution, download the app My Contacts Backup to your phone and use it to back up your contacts as an attachment to an email. Send the email to yourself.

Then follow the steps under "OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard" in this article to reset your SyncServices folder: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627. After doing this, check your sync settings on the different sync setting tabs in iTunes on your computer to confirm that your settings are correct; make any necessary changes.

On your phone, if you are downloading any podcasts to your phone, open the Music app and check to be sure there aren't any downloads that are pending or stuck. If so, delete them.

Then try sycing again.

That helps, but if it's getting stuck on creating the backup, that should be step 1 or 2.

Open iTunes, go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices, click on your most recent backup in the Backups list, then click Delete Backup. If you aren't sure which backup is yours, hover your mouse over the name of the backup to reveal the phone number of the device that the backup belongs to.

Then connect your phone and try syncing again.
