I had no choice but to purchase microsoft office 2013 on windows 8 operating system and want to be able to continue to use icloud to sync my ipad and iphone. I cannot see the icloud calendar or contacts in Outlook 2013. I did instal icloud before Microsoft Office 2013. How can I get the icloud working in Outlook 2013.

Only Office 2007 and 2010 are compatible with iCloud Control Panel at the moment, not Office 2013. Instead, until Apple releases an iCloud Control Panel version compatible with Office 2013, you have to access and modify your data through http://www.icloud.com, logging in with your Apple ID. Another option is to install Office 2010
Thanks this is very disappointing. You cannot buy office 2010 anymore which is why I had to buy 2013. How do I get the contacts to synchronise between icloud.com and outloook or do I have to have them duplicated? If this is the case then its rubbish. Office 2013 has been out long enough now for apple to ccom up with a fix.
Apple has taken 5 months to release Windows 8 drivers to be able to install Windows 8 on Macs, so you can expect something similar. Unfortunately, you can't set up iCloud manually on Outlook, so the only possibility is to wait for a iCloud Control Panel update. Send feedback to Apple > http://www.apple.com/feedback

Thanks. I sent feedback to apple. I've just paid £220 for office 2013 and I am not about to backtrack and spend more money because apple cannot get upto speed. You also cannot have 2013 and 2010 loaded on the same machine. I think its very disappointing of apple not to be on the ball with this one.
So am i correct in saying that I have to manually update the contacts in outlook/icloud if they are changed? What a pain.

Correct. When Apple releases a iCloud Control Panel compatible with Office 2013, you won't have to do that, because iCloud will sync contacts automatically in Outlook
So when is that going to happen.
It has happened, it came with the 10.8.3 update.
ok but i have 2.1.2 version of icloud and everytime i flag mail in the control panel on icloud and save i get a message to say default profile not set-up in outlook 2013
Remove Office and iCloud, remove all previous versions of Outlook and there registry entries. Reinstall Outlook and iCloud, test again.
This doesn't work either. I just have the Microsoft people working on my Dell PC for 10.5 hours over the past three days and iCloud and Outlook 2013 still don't get along. I got a refund for Office 365 (Outlook 2013) from Microsoft and they are going to send me a copy of Office 2010. Everything worked when I had Outlook 2010 installed (but I couldn't install the copy I had on my new computer as the product key had been used too many times).
Sounds like Apple has made a real mess of this. I tried to unistall itunes and icloud and reinstall but that doesn't work. I'm tearing my hair out is its rendering outlook 2013 uselss and I don't want to use apple email. Would be nice to get a response from Apple as to when they plan to release an update to integrate icloud with outlook 2013
You need to uninstall Office as well as iCloud.
Unistalling and reinstalling both iCloud and Office does not solve this. The Microsoft techs did both, numerous times. They scanned my whole computer. They made changes to my registry. Nothing worked. Then they blamed Apple. So contacted Apple who in turn blamed Microsoft. We're stuck in the middle between companies not wanting to work together and not willing to work together. So the answer is to pick one of them and stick with a single system.
I've SO much trouble with my iPhones (first my 3Gs and now my 4s). I also subscribed to MobileMe and that was another Apple disaster. I'm probably going to get a Windows phone next ... in just a few months.
I think the problem is the control panel. Ignore it.
I have an ASUS N53SV running Windows 8 and Office 2013.
I went into outlook added a new account using the settings on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864?viewlocale=en_US
The only quirk I found was that the imap account used SSL whereas teh SMTP used TLS.
The problem with ignoring the control panel message/error is that things will work for a few days - email, contacts, calendars will seem to be syncing correctly, but then, without notice, it stops syncing things. Calendar events entered on my desktop machine don't make it to iCloud or mail deleted on my laptop is not deleted in iCloud. It's just unreliable.
My mail setting are exactly what is proscribed in the account settings link that Wilkie IT provided.
