Q: Update Secure? Update to 10.7?
I hope this is not a completely naive question, I swear. Must I do this to upgrade to 10.7 (if that is even a valid question). Do you suave MBP or Desktop Mac-ers recommend this upgrade for anyone who absolutely is paranoid about unauthorized 3rd party access to network or computer? I have no use for ARD or RDC and would remove the complete program including pref.panes, package πet al - if I were sure that I wouldn't have to reinstall - yet again....
Just a quick answer would be really
Thanks much...

Is the next OS upgrade from Snow Leo 10.6 to 10.7 (if there is 10.7 in Snow Leo) or just Lion?
The final version of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is 10.6.8, which is a free update and recommended if you still have Mac OS X 10.6.3. The next major release of Mac OS X was Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, which is not a free upgrade; you would have to purchase it from the Mac App Store if you want it.
2. Must I install the update for ARD if and when I do move past 10.6 Snow Leo?
If you're referring to the ARD client, if you don't intend to use Apple Remote Desktop, you can either install any presented updates or ignore them as you please. There's no harm in updating, so I'd suggest you just allow the updates when presented.
Regards.
