My iphone just got stolen!

Apple customer support can't help me... and can't locate my phone with Find my iphone on icloude either.

Does anyone have experience tracking iphone 5 based on the device IMEI number?

If find my phone is not active or the phone is off or the battery is flat then you can't track it. The authorities might be able to if they consider the issue serious enough. I suggest you change all your passwords and tell your carrier that the phone is stolen. You can get the IMEI number by going to itunes on your computer that you normally sync to, edit, preferences then the devices tab and hover the mouse over your backup and it will reveal the serial number and IMEI

Sorry to hear about your iPhone, but the only way you can track the iPhone would be the via find my iPhone app and the iPhone must be on and connected to the network. If you report the iPhone to your service provider it is possible that they will block the iPhone from a new activation. You should change your iTunes password as soon as possible, and report your stolen iPhone to the police.

Thanks guys, I've already notified my carrier and the police, and I did lock my iphone via icloud as well.

However, my icloud always shows "All device offline", seems that the thief has already done a factory reset to my iphone so I can't track it...think my only chance is to track my iphone based on the IMEI code somehow, if only Apple could notify me as soon as someone re-activates the iphone with a new sim card!!!
