Hello Lawrence / Rudegar, I've tried changing the iCloud setting to OFF and then have done a soft reset; i've now even turned ON the iCloud settings. Nothing seems to be working - my battery drains off badly, the phone is warm (if not hot) and ALL apps (be it Email, FB, LinkedIn, Games, Call, Message) crash - it's extremely become an awful situation, any advice please?!!!

Apps crashing is a totally separate problem from battery drain. If that is happening and your phone is not jailbroken then iOS is corrupted in some way do a Restore again, and set up as a New phone. After it is restored you can try restoring your backup as a separate step. If the problem comes back you will have to restore again, this time as a new and do not restore your backup.

If you Restore as New there will be nothing on your phone initially. But you can reinstall any apps and music you had purchased previously. To summarize:

  • Restore the phone using iTunes as a New phone. Do not restore a backup or sync it.
  • Test it. If it is not working you have a hardware problem. If it is, continue.
  • Connect the phone to iTunes and click the Restore Backup button, then sync.
  • Test again. If the problem returns you have a corrupt backup Do the first step again, and this time, instead of restoring your backup reinstall your apps and other content by syncing them from iTunes; set up the phone the way you did initially. If you do this you will lose any app data that the app itself does not back up, but that's all you will lose.

Hi Lawrence,

I did the following:

1. Restore iPhone as new Phone

2. Restore Backup from latest correctly working backup

3. All my contacts are now back

4. I do see all my apps also listing on the home screen of my iPhone

5. However, I see that they are in Waiting state for SYNC

Looks like all apps would get reinstalled again?? Does it how it's supposed to be?? I noticed that the Sync isnt completing and it cancels sync....I do see all my stuff on my PC iTunes and its trying to sync. Or at this stage where i see all apps in Waitin state, do I now allow my phone to do the installation by herself!!!?

Now click the Sync button.
