Scratches

How do you get rid of scratches on the aluminum case? I really love this laptop, and I couldn't stand having to look at the scratch.

MacBook Pro 1.83, Mac OS X (10.4.6), I love it.

I believe it would further hurt the MBP finish. The MBP's finish is not paint.

The way iKleer works is via gentle abrasion. It seems to me that using this on a MBP would be like using sandpaper on a stainless steel sink.

Good luck, and please let us know if this product works for scratchs on the MBP.

EDIT: You could probably get the same results as the iKleer by using an inexpensive rubbing compound that is gentle enough for automobiles with clear coat finishes (or possibly by using detailing clay).

Ok, first things first... lets get this straight.

iKlear is a screen cleaner/spray on liquid. It works **** well on the MBP screen but does not remove scratches, period... it just can't

iCleaner is the polish, and it does absolutely nothing to the MBP. I went out on the limb and tried it on a small scratch in an inconspicuous spot and it did absolutely nothing. period. It is designed for the Macbook, not the Macbook Pro. Which leads me to question why the faq on that website says that its part of the macbook pro cleaning kit.

I just got a scratch on my brand new MacBook Pro. Today I spoke with a representative of the company that makes iCleaner scratch removal and they said it would remove the scratch, however, it would also remove the coating. I also spoke with Radtech, the makers of Ice Cream, and they recommended that I absolutely do not use their product as it will completely ruin the finish.
