iTunes does not recognize my iPhone 4s unter WIN8

My iTunes (lastest version) doesn't recognize my iPhone 4S anymore. I have WIN8, and had no problems until a few days.

The iPhone is recognized by Windows, and i can see an copy my pictures there. But I cannot sync it with iTunes and cannot make backups because in iTunes the iPhone is not visible.

What can I do. I think when I deinstall iTunes an reinstall it, my media and the database is gone, right?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.2

Use this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 when uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes in Windows. Also, doing the uninstall/reinstall will not affect your media and database. It only takes care of the program.
