Try it and find out... What are you planning to do with the "exported" library?

Just wanting to back them up in case something crashes. I have 5 years worth of work in creating some of these playlist.
I guessed as much. See this backup tip. Make additional copies of the iTunes Library.itl file if you are worried. All the important information about your library is in there.

When importing songs where do they actually go? Do they go into "My Music" or into the internal iTunes folder, then iside the iTunes media folder where the .itl files are? I've been using a 3rd party back up program but I'll definately check out your suggestion. Thanks
iTunes will only recognize everything if you restore it to the same file & folder structure it had when you backed up. The default layout is <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Media\<Lots of stuff> where the library files are in the iTunes folder and media goes inside the media folder. You can add media into iTunes and leave it connected to content stored outside of the media folder, but the stucture above is portable and is more likely to work immediately when restored to a completely new machine.

Thanks, now that I know this, my iTunes will randomly open without any attachment to a library. Like a brand new downloaded program.... UGGGGHH frustrated.
