iPod disabled for 22 million minutes, and Windows won't recognize the device?

I turned on my iPod today, and I was greeted with a message saying, "iPod disabled - try again in 22,397,402 minutes." I looked up a fix for it, and it said to have the iPod in DFU-mode, so I did as instructed, and plugged it into my laptop. After this, another message said, "USB Device Not Recognized." I've tried every fix I could find for the USB drivers, but still no luck. Any idea on how to this issue?

Did you do everything here:

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

Including

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

or

Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

New cable and different USB port?

Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Try on another computer to help determine if computer or iPod problem
