Q: 8gb iPod touch with only 6.38gb capacity?

Is there a difference between my iPod being 8gb and it only having a Capacity of 6.38? Because in my mind i thought if its a *gb iPod then the capicity would be at 8 also. Please correct me if im wrong i just want to understand.

The difference is mainly due to the IOS itself taking up the difference. The iOS needs storage space and thus is not then available to the user. Also, the difference is due to how GB is advertised and used. See:
