Imessage storage

I have an 8GB 4th Gen iPod Touch. I use iMessage to chat with friends and others. Lately, it has been popping up with a message saying my storage is low and I need to manage it via settings whenever I use it and now I can't even use iMessage now. I deleted a TON of photos as well as some apps and the About section of Settings shows I have 2.8 GB available now. Yet, I still can't send a message because it says I need to clear more space. Is this a bug or am I missing a step? Please help! This is the only way I can recieve text messages! Any guidance appreciated!

Try:

- Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory.

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Unsync all music and resync

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
