802.1X : Pick a Certificate Madness

I have a MacBook Pro, OS 10.7.5 and I have been using our corp network wi-fi 802.1x successfully since I got it last August. Like a month or so ago the

wi-fi for this network started prompting me for a certificate. I know the drill about how a Mac needs a root CA plus your own personal certificate to make the connection work for 802.1X. However it's gone mad. It keeps requesting a certificate which I have already submitted.

Troubleshooting Performed:

1. Downloaded new certs (root CA and personal) from our certificate server.

2. Deleted my login Keychain.

3. Gone to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and deleted the NetworkInterfaces.plist

Observations:

1. I have gotten it to connect a few times if I use the EAP-TLS option and not Automatic. But lately this does not seem to work.

2. If I can get the eapolclient to fire off asking for my private key I have it made. Is there a way to manually null out this setting to force it to ask again?

Could a SoftwareUpdate have clogged up the plumbing?
