I have dozens of processes, identified by Activity Monitor, running in the background, some are instituted by root, _Window, _eppc, _network, _mdnsre, nobody, and my user account.
My question is,
1) how can I find out what each of these processes do?
2) Which ones can I disable and
3) How can I disable them permanently.
When I quit some of them, I find my computer runs faster, and more streamline.
I quit Google Drive, HP Monitor and a few others that were taking up a large Real Mem.
There's no reason to quit processes unless there are problems. Don't even think about working with anything but "My Processes" tab in Activity Monitor.
