If your iPhone is charged try a reset.
Press and hold the Home and On/Off buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. This may take 10 - 15 seconds and is the equivalent of a re-boot. You will not lose any data.
If that does not help a visit to the Genius Bar is required. Make an appointment to avoid a lengthy wait.
You may need to restore your iPhone using the fancy DFU mode since the device will not power on and iTunes may not detect the device to do a restore the easy way.
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/)
or
If you already have iTunes on your computer, open iTunes and if using a Mac click on "iTunes" from the top menu bar and select "Check for updates"
If using Windows, choose "Help" in the menu bar and select "Check for updates"
**Please read all steps and ensure that you completely understand them before proceeding. This will remove all information associated with the device, restoring it back to original factory settings. This will also download and install the latest version of iOS that is available for your device.
To restore your device using DFU mode, ensure that your device is powered down completely. Open iTunes on your computer and press and hold the home key on the device and while holding the home key, connect the USB cord to the phone.
The apple logo will appear on the screen for a few seconds, do not let go of the home key. Continue to hold the home key until you see something like this...
Once you're at this screen, iTunes will respond with a pop up window that says...
"iPhone detected in Recovery Mode"
Follow the prompts to update and restore the device. iTunes will walk you through the rest of the process.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
It's imperative that you do NOT disconnect your iPhone from the computer during this process, doing so may render your device unusable. Do not disconnect the device or allow the computer to go into "sleep mode" until the iPhone is at the "Hello" screen.
This process can take a few hours depending on the content that it has to remove from the device. Also, this process will download the latest copy of iOS directly from Apple and install it into your device, so make sure you have a proper internet connection to avoid interruptions or delays.
Hope this helps.
Nice of you to add your reply to a post here on ASC. However, take the time to look at the thread you are responding to, as you have responded to a 2-year old thread. Things can change as iOS versions change to.
Thanks for following me around like a lost puppy and making sure you correct anything I have to say.
I apologize for my oversight of the time the post was originally created.
It won't happen again Mr. Windows expert, sir.
