Cinema HD Display

My husband has a POWER PC G4 laptop. He has a CINEMA HD DISPLAY connected to that. The time has come, however, that he is ready to upgrade his computer. He wants to get a Macbook Pro. But would like to know if it is possible to connect this older model CINEMA HD DISPLAY to a newer model laptop. He likes this display very much as it is matte and does not seem to cause much eye strain -- as opposed to my iMac which causes us both a GREAT deal of eyestrain.
