iTunes Crashes.. Consistently
Apple. "It just- doesn't work" anymore.
iTunes as well as many of Apple's other software, used to be known for their reliabiliy and their ability to function as designed and, almost all the time in fact, flawlessly. Unfotunatley this seems to be on the decline, I must point out, after Jobs' death. All frill and no thrill. The apps, namely iTunes, and even some features in operating systems just don't do the job anymore or at least as well as they should.
Anyway, all aside from the point of my being here.
I have been having an incredibly frustrating issue with iTunes 11 lately. Here are all the details for those of you who believe you can help me (I honestly believe only a major update with bug fixes can help me and everyone else) or at least relate to the predicament while drawing enough attention the issue so Apple will look over it. I am running a Windows 7 64-bit computer and have iTunes 11.0.2.26 (the latest during this month of April 2013) intalled. All songs are contained in the actual iTunes folder on the native hard drive. and yes the computer is perfectly fine.
The problem is that iTunes continues to "crash," or that is what I believe is happening. By crash, I do not mean to the point where it would be "Not Responding" while in use. No this is no the case at all. Rather, whilst in use, the program(iTunes) would be running just fine- playing music, syncing my iPhone, and containing all of my music, iOS apps, and other media associated with it. But on occasian, 3 times now within the last few days, would lose all of my media- ALL of it. This means, I would be using iTunes and after exiting out and reopening the application sometimes (3 times), my music, iOS apps, and other linked media would not appear in the library.
The media itself is not corrupted nor has it been permently lost when this happens. The media (music most importanty) is still physically contained on my computer but when the "crash" occurs it is no longer within the iTunes library. And, because iTunes decided it would be funny to empty itself.. again, I would have to "scan for media" again, and then the library will once again be populated. Luckily I do not lose all my songs. So why is this so frustrating? Well, who would want to consistenty restore media on iTunes, especially if you need your phone synced and are in a hurry, or something just not working.
It is the most frustrating because I have playlists with many songs on them that are lost when iTunes decides to discontinue the connection with my music. These, I cannot replace without having to go back, manually making a playlist, which can contain hundreds of songs I add you, and trying to remember all of the songs contained in said playlist and painstakingly add them to the playlist one-by-one-by-one-by-one.. for multiple playlists.
In addition to losing my oh so precious playlists, another annoyance occurs. I have an iPhone 4 and frequentlt sync it to iTunes. One: I can no longer sync it until I remake all those playlists that were lost because my phone can only hold so much, hence the reason for creating the playlists in the first place; to contain only the songs I want on my iPhone. And Two: all my iOS apps must be redownloaded into iTunes 11; all 229 of them.
All in all, a rather frustrating, annoying problem I have to deal with until Apple decides to fix it, or tell me how stupid I am and point out something I am doing to cause the issue. I just thought I'd post for anyone else who is experiencing a similar problem with their product (iTunes 11).
