I recently updated a app on my iPad 2.it asked me to turn it off then on so I did .now every time I turn it on the apple logo appears then it automatically shuts down an does the same untill the battery's gone ?

You probably need to restore your iPad now. Pay attention to the last part of this kb article where it explains about using recovery mode. You may need to restore the iPad using that method.
