Help! I accidentally selected my (very important) internal hard drive as a Time Machine backup... How do I deselect it?
I'm running OX 10.8.2
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
If I have understood, you have selected the internal drive as the drive to make Time Machine backups, right? In this case, open System Preferences > Time Machine, and turn Time Machine off, so backups won't be made into this hard drive
Open Time Machine preferences and deselect the current backup drive then select the proper one.
On your startup drive you will need to remove the Time Machine folder made when the wrong backup occurred.

More info: I use multiple external hard drives to back up multiple internal drives, respectively ("HD1 Backup" to back up "HD1", "HD2 Backup" to back up "HD2".) The new OS allowed multiple backup drives but did not allow them to what I try to do simultaneously. So, from time to time, I need to switch backup drives to back up the other internal drive... Which is when I just made the mistake.
I guess in the moment of panic I did not see "add or delete back up drive" button that was cut off by the interface...
Now I got it all straightened out... Thanks again for your tips!
