iPhone reports "No AirPrint Printers Found"

my iPhone reports "No AirPrint Printers Found" when trying to print from e-mail.

However, print works using the HP ePrint app. AIrPrint functioned sometime in the past, but there have been some ios updates.

You are saying you have a printer that is not on the Airprint list, but you are using an HP app to do the printing. Now since updating iOS, you cannot print with the app? If that is so, I suggest trying to see if there is an update to the app, if there is a firmware update to the printer. You can also restart the wifi network, the printer and the phone and then see if one of those resolves the problem.

You need to make sure the printer is connected to the same wireless network as the iPhone. Make sure the firmware for the printer is up to date. This is not always the case as the printers can sit on the shelf for a little while and need updating.

If the printer is connected to the same wifi network as the phone, then reboot all of the devices. The router, the computer, the printer and the phone, then see if they will connect.

I'm not sure, but I wonder if the HP printer app creates a conflict with the devices. I have an iPhone 4S with iOS 6.1.3 and have had no difficulty, and the other 3 iPhones in our home work as well.

I didn't say that it did, I just said I wondered if it did. The app was designed for printers that are not designed for AirPrint.

Since you did not state you had checked firmware for the printer and router, there was no way for me to know this. All you said was your printer was listed and didn't work, then suspect that it is an iOS 6.1.3 issue.

The basic communication between the phone and the printer has to do with the wifi network. As long as the printer is connected via wifi and is not connected in any way to anything else but the wifi network (not physically connected to the computer/router, then the phone has to be connected.

If you have checked firmware for both the router and the printer, have rebooted all devices, then let me recommend this support document http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/airprint/. While it says iPad, it can provide a little insight with problems in printing.

You can also try resetting all network settings and reconnecting with the wifi with the phone.

Thanks again..

Aldreay tried everything suggested at that link..

I was asking if there is some app or some trick that - at lower level - helps to identify the problem.. pointing the problem - for example - on Bonjour or something else..

I could think it is the router that has problems with Bonjour (if that's the cause) but the manufacturer (I contacted DLink) confirm that they are 100% Bonjour compatible (they gave me a FW update)

but considering that:

- HP Printer Control app (link) doesn't work properly (it doesn't show the Printer IP address and it doesn't enable the Scan and Copy button) on the iPhone..

- the equivalent application on Android (with a Tablet connected to the SAME wifi network) instead works perfectly (it shows IP and enables all functionality)

If it was the Router (Bonjour) I expect that also the Android app did show the same problem.. if both apps use Bonjour to discover the printer,,

Am I wrong?

A port scan with Fing reports (Printer IP) the following ports/services:

80 http

443 https

631 IPP

8080 http-proxy

9100 jetdirect

9101 jetdirect

9102 jetdirect

9111 DragonDSConsole

I don't see 5353 (Bonjour)... so.. could it be the Printer itself (Bonjour not enabled, which is not true of course) or the Router (that has 5353 closed, despite what Dlink says.. and the Port Forwarding that is enabled on that port)... or the iPhone has that port closed????

What do you think?
