New 21" iMac with SSD; panic loop after updating to 10.8.3

I updated to 10.8.3 this morning without issues. Later in the day, the computer spontaneously restarted and now is in a panic loop. Safe boot doesn't work, but I did restart from a clone. I also started from the Recovery Disk and Disk Utility confirms the disk is fine. Here is the panic:

Your system is crashing when it comes on

com.Logitech.Control Center.HID Driver 3.5.1

My recommendation would be to update or uninstall the app that is using it. Remember OS X does not have to be running the app in order for the KP to occur, it just needs to "see" it. If you choose to uninstall locate and follow the developers instructions for doing so.

Thanks. I had the same thought, but as I can't startup that volume (even in safe mode, which is weird), I don't have an easy way to uninstall the kernel extension. I might be able to do so with Terminal from the recovery disk, but right now I'm just reinstalling the OS to see what happens. Odd that this happened so suddenly. Thanks.

If you have a bootable clone backup you can start from that and then see your iMac's internal drive and then remove it. You can also attempt to boot in Safe Mode (hold down the Shift Key when you hear the startup tone until a progress bar appears) once started in Safe Mode then attempt to uninstall it. Then restart normally. If you have another Mac you can also start in Firewire Target Display Mode and remove the file.

Agreed, but safe mode didn't help (still had the panic loop) and there are permissions issues when trying to remove extensions from one volume when booted into a clone, which I did try.

What finally worked was reinstalling the OS via the recovery disk. I suspect that the 10.8.3 update via the MAS had some issue that manifested itself in the repetitive kernel panic. Thanks.

I didn't want to have to reinstall OS X but glad that fixed it, while it's running update that Logitech driver!!!
