Q: how can i gift an app

Please explain how to gift an app that doesn't require buying an itunes credit for that amount. I just want to pay for it and have the recipient click an email link or something the way you can gift a kindle book. I have a Mac Air runnin 10.8.3, an iphone with iOS 6.1 .3 and one recipient has an ipad and the other an older ipod touch. I'd like to use one of these to send the app gift.

To my knowledge, that can't be done. A gift card is the only way that I know to do this.

Note that before you gift it, you should make sure that the app will work on the generation of the device (iPod or iPad) that you want to send it to.
