Is 5G Internet speed compatible on 4s?

My wife and got 4s' in December and were connecting to our home wireless network with 5G speeds, but have since lost that ability with the past 2 updates. Was there some software deletion in those updates that took away the ability for the phone to recognize the 802.11n protocol? We are both at iOS 6.1.3.

Sorry for the confusion, guys. I was referring to the 5GHZ speed that is available on the 812.11n protocol. There are 2 speeds - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. My laptop will connect to my home network at the 5GHz speed. iPhone 5 does have that capability but not the 4S. I had thought the phone was connecting to the network at 5Ghz when we first got them, but the tech specs on the phone say that it isn't possible. However, the iPhone 5 specs do have that capability.

I wasn't referring to a 5G network by Verizon or any other carrier.

Hope this clears up any confusion.

You misread the i5's specs.

802.11 Wi-Fi has several subspecs possible: a, b, g or n. The i5 is capable of working with all. When operating under 802.11n, it can work on the 2.4GHz or the 5.2GHz bands, if the access point is using either. For full speed (theoretical max is 600 Mbits/s), it needs to use the 5.2 GHz band. iOS 6.1.3 did not take away any of those capabilities.
