What are the benefits of updates and is it safer

The supposistion is it will bring more Security & other inhancents, bujt in my experience it only locks you more & more into what Apple wants you to do, often requires paid upgrades to many Apps that work just fine, but of course if you're tied to iDeves or iCloud... you'll have to capitualate sooner or later.
