Nothing is pushing through to the other devices. Not contacts or calendars or anything. All this is set up. Each device is linked to my Apple ID.
So what's the issue? It's not even sending the information to the main icloud server because I've checked this too!
Try to make sure your network is not blocking icloud ports - 443 for authentication and 80 for upload. If it is not - something wrong with set up.

Also - after playing around some more realised that my iPad mini pushes out to my iphone and macbook. So when I update contacts on my iPad it updates everywhere else.
Add contact to each device like " contact ipad, contact iphone, contact mac"
Go to www.icloud.com and check if they are there.
If they are pushed from ipad that means your default account for contacts may need to be changed in settings on the mac and iphone.
