Got a new hard drive and Im using my external hd from timemachine to put files back on but it hasnt moved once it it "transferring your system settings". It went straigt to less than a minute remaining and stayed there. what do i do to fix it?
I followed all of the original setup directions and it got stuck a long time ago. any suggestions?

First, try disconnecting and connecting your external drive, so transferring should continue until the migration finishes. If it doesn't work, you have to turn off your MacBook and turn it on again
Wouldnt disconnecting the external hd stop the downloading process and mess up my new hd?
It shouldn't. Note that your Mac is stuck now, so disconnecting your external drive wouldn't hurt
reconnecting the the hd didnt work. I tried it twice and the warning about improper ejection came up. Also i do not want to just shut off the computer mid process because that is how my last hd failed and I just got it back today. so what now?
