FCPX Slow, can't edit properly

I have Final Cut Pro X, running on Mac OS X v 10.7.5 Processor 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Memory 1GB 1067 MHz RAW. Is there any settings I can choose on FCPX to speed it up, the problem I am having is that when I want to watch what I've edited it lags, so I don't have smooth playback to view the video.

Would buying a bigger ram change this? or are there settings on FCPX I can change to help.

Thanks

Your RAM amount doesn't meet the minimun configuration:

http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/specs/

  • Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better.
  • 2GB of RAM (4GB of RAM recommended).
  • OpenCL-capable graphics card or
Intel HD Graphics 3000 or later.
  • 256MB of VRAM (512MB of VRAM recommended).
  • Display with 1280-by-768 resolution or higher.
  • OS X v10.6.8 or OS X v10.7.5 or OS X v10.8.3 or later.
  • 2.4GB of disk space.

Ok thanks a lot.

Do you use FCPX? if so how much ram do you have, and do you ever have lagging issues?

Also where can I find out how much VRAM is on the macbook?

Thanks again.

1GB Memory is not enough to even run Lion properly, let alone FCPX which can be a memory hog anyway. I would install 8GB minimum on any Mac running Lion or Mountain Lion with FCPX.
