My 2012 Macbook Pro recognizes that it is plugged in but says not charging.

My 2012 Macbook Pro recognizes that it is plugged in but says not charging. The LED light on the L shaped power adapter is not illuminated. I've tried cleaning it, updating my software, everything on this Apple support page: Portables: L-shaped MagSafe power adapter does not charge computer and LED indicator light does not illuminate

Is there anything else I can try before I have to take it into the Apple Store? I live in a rural area and it is about a 3 hour trip to the nearest Apple Store.
