How do I retrieve the ID? The phone is disabled, and I don't have tools to open it.

If your phone is disabled from entering the wrong passcode too many times, back it up and restore it on the last computer it was synced with, as explained at the bottom of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.
