Question

Iphone 4S will not charge with 12V charger.

My Iphone 4S will not charge in the car on the 12V charger. I've tried a new charger and still will not work. I've tried turning it off and back on and still no luck. It seems to give me the signal that it's going to charge but it only lasts a few seconds then nothing again. I don't want to ruin the phone but trying over and over. I've even tried it in a different car to see if something is wrong but still doesn't work. I bought a new charger and that doesn't work either. Very frustrating that it can't be charged while traveling.

iPhones 4S does not charge with 12 Volt charger, you will damage your iPhone 4S. You need conversion by a compatible Car Charger to approximately 1-2 amps or so. A USB style car charger should work fine.

I assume you mean an iPhone charger for the car which you plug into

the 12v car power socket

In which case are you using a branded device ?Belkin ,Griffin etc or a

non branded if the latter pay a little more for a named item

It is a branded from Apple that I bought with the phone. And, yes, I mistakenly called it a 12 V charger. I'm going to try the USB type and see what happens. If that doesn't work I guess i'm getting a new phone!!

I use the USB version and never had any issues

BUT buy a branded version as above that way you know the quality

assume iPhone charges in any other environment ie plugged into PC ,mains power etc

If you have an Apple store near they will check it over for you if another power source doesn't work
