Use Apple TV as a big screen for my iPad Mini???

I'm trying to use my Apple TV with my iPad Mini. I want to be able to mirror the iPad screen up on the TV so I can write emails, work in Pages or in Numbers. Is that possible? I can play music or see pictures from my iPad on my TV through Apple TV. I'm a PC refugee and need a bigger screen to work on.
