Hi All

I am trying to make DVD versions of my home videos using my imac with imovie. They were recoded on digital mini cassette using a Sony DCR-TVR28E. I am trying to connect the camera to the USB port on my Mac  but it does not seem to recognise any connection. Can anyone help please?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

You may find this helpful: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1059?viewlocale=en_US Note that Sony call firewire IEEE 1394, which you may see a reference to in their manual.

You need a 6 pin to 4 pin firewire cable, widely available anywhere, to connect the camera directly to your Mac.

Thanks Klaus I did try to purchase via Amazon a while back it had a very long lead time and at the end of that they informed me that it was unavailable. I felt totally ****** off and decided to come back to this when I had more time to try other cables etc. I will try again to get a cable as you suggest could you tell me which port I should be using on my Mac and what the symbol on it looks like? Thanks!
