What you have is an invalid or corrupted BAG file. Here is the fix:
1) Completely exit out of Messages
2) Open the user's Library folder via the Option key + Go menu method
3) Navigate to the user's Preferences folder
4) Carefully drag the file com.apple.imessage.bag.plist to the trash
5) Close the Preferences folder window
6) Empty the trash
7) Relaunch Messages and try again
You will be prompted - just follow the prompts
Voila
Have her send you a Message than y can just add her to ur contacts.

Hi she asked me for my number but i don't have one can it be a home phone
On an iPod, unless there is also an iPhone with iOS 6 using the same Apple ID for messaging, an iPod is Messaged by using the email address(s) listd in Settings>Mssages>Send and Receive
If you are trying to send to her, try using her Apple ID, instead of her mobile number. (Use the method lllaass explained above)
Hi i don't have her apple id i don't think she has one
You can only Message other devices (iPhone, iPod touch or iPad) that have iOs 5 or later and who have activated Messages on their device. To activate the device yu have to have an Apple ID.
Hi we both have apple products but she only gave me her number
Is the phone number she gave you is for:
- an iPhone or
- for an iPod or iPad which uses the same Apple ID as used for an iPhone with iOS 6?
That is the only way you can Message via a phone number. The message you are getting says that is not the case.
it is for an ipod touch
she is not running ios 6
Since she does not have iOS 6, you can only Message here by using the email address(s) specified on here iPod in Setting>Messages>Send and receive
When you sign in to your Apple ID with iMessage using an iPhone with iOS 6, your Apple ID is linked to your phone number. This allows you to receive iMessages sent to your phone number on other iOS 6 devices signed in to the same Apple ID. If your phone number is not listed on an iPod touch or iPad, follow this article.

Thanks i will let try it tommrow
I am having a similar problem. I can not text my husband or son from my iPad mini. I get the "is not registered with imessage" error. It makes no sense because 1) I text them all the time from this device 2) I text them successfully earlier today & 3) they are both set up for iMessage.
This is irritating because there are several posts on discussions about this but not one logical fix. It has to be something on Apple's end.
One more thing. 4) They can message me and I can see their message but can not message them.
I'm having the same issue. I'm able to successfully send and receive messages from my iPhone to this person, I'm also able to recieve their messages via my MacBook Pro & iPhone. I don't see my sent messages in my iPhone message feed as I normally do. This has got to be some sort of bug as I was speaking to this person yesterday with no issue. I've yet to send or receive messages from anyone else from my Macbook Pro, though I don't have anything to say. hah.
is not registered with iMessage.
