No/random notifications

No/random notifications

I'm only recieving about 10% of the normal notifications from my favorite apps...

Skype: never unless I'm using the phone

Whatsapp: only when the phone is idle for long periods of time

Twitter's notifications haven't worked until I set foot in Italy this past weekend. The moment I crossed the border, it all started working.

Nothing has changed other than I am studying in Europe instead of the USA.

Are there any things I can check in iOS before hunting down the developers of the apps?

iOS 6.1.3 on an iPhone 4S

Bump, any ideas on what's going on???

Snapchat notifications were working but not anymore...

Why push? Why doesn't it work reliably?

Troubleshooting notifications

Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If you are not receiving notifications for a specific app, try these steps:

Verify that the app supports notifications.
After installing an app or restoring a backup to a different iOS device, open the app at least once to begin receiving notifications.
If the app requires entering or logging in to an account, you will need to do this before receiving notifications.
Check Settings > Notifications to ensure that the app is configured for notifications.
If notifications do not appear only in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.
If you are still unable to receive notifications and you are using a Wi-Fi connection, verify that the network or firewall is not blocking access to port 5223.

No settings have changed for notifications, but other than travelling to a different continent and using a different cellular provider are the only two big differences.

All apps mentioned support notifications, used multiple wifi networks, 3G networks across 3 countries, no problem recieving them, just some notifications never show.

Just today, opened snapchat and I was bombarded with new messages that never showed in the Notification Center.

Skype, I get notifications only when the phone is not idle.

Twitter, only after I went to Italy.

Whatsapp is working for now.
