How do I get my MacBook Pro to delete photos from folders?

Perhaps this is for some part of the photo community, but since I'm on a MacBook Pro, thought I'd at least start here.

I just partitioned a Seagate 3 Tb external drive; 1.5 Tb for Time Machine and 1.5 Tb for simple drag and drop files/folders.

When I copy files/folders over to the Seagate Partition, I'm copying videos over to gain more space on the laptop, I then

delete the file/folder.

Then checked storage on the mac and Gb remaining went from 63.9 to 61. ??

So I went into "Pictures", found a folder titled "Videos" and there was an exact copy of what was just sent over to the Seagate Partition.

I took one video I didn't mind loosing, from the mac, put it in the trash and emptied the trash. That video was deleted on the Seagate

partition as well!! What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help on this.

I'm on a MacBook Pro: 2.6Ghz Core i7

Reply to my own question, so others won't have to.

I typed in Videos into Spotlight and it took me to:

This Mac| "Pictures"| Shared, and there was my problem. I was in the shared folder.
