Iphone 5 has bad battery life

My iphone 5's battery is worse than what my droids was. As soon as it hits like 45% it will drop to 20% instantly and when i plug it in it jumps to 50%. I'm getting a new charger for it Friday because I can't get a full charge. The highest that it has been charged was 61% and that took 9 hours.
