My iPhone switches off when the battery is down to 20%

The battery seems to run down quite quickly from fully charged and when it gets to 20% the phone switches off. So I need a new battery and do I have to go to Apple? Help please.

Apple Store can perform free quick battery diagnostic testing, make Genius reservation so you do not have long wait time. If confirmed faulty, battery replacement program at Apple is $80 and you get perfect Replacement iPhone 3GS, exactly like yours, same color, same GB. But new perfect everything. Apple does not replace iPhone 3GS battery, they replace the entire iPhone.
