Q: Does 10.4.11 support WPA2 Personal

My company just switched from WPA to WPA2 for our internet connection.

I have the only mac within the chain and for some reason

after setting up wireless access to WPA2 Personal

I connect to the internet then within a few minutes

it drops out.

After several attemps of this occuring-I make the connection and then it drops again and again.

I have an imac 2.8 ghz 10.4.11 .Is it the airport card or will

or will stepping up to Snow Leopard take care of this?

Thanks.

Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

Since you can connect at all, WPA2 isn't the problem.

Though all of these steps may or may not be needed, I'm including them all.

Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

    10.4 instructions...

Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.

    If using Wifi/Airport...

Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...

    208.67.222.222

    208.67.220.220

    Then Apply.

(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).

    Click OK.
