Q: How do I log into my iPod when it is showing six Chinese characters with three dots after it?

My kid went got on his ipod and went to SETTINGS-GENERAL-INTERNATIONAL-LANGUAGE and then clicked on the fourth language down under Deutsch and then clicked DONE. Then the ipod shut off by itself. He turned it back on and then a black screen with six Chinese characters and three periods showed up and won't leave. It appears to be frozen.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it back to English?

Maybe:
iOS: How to change the language when it's set to one you don't understand
Next would be to restore from backup as long as y have not backuped since the change was made.
If you restore from iTunes backup
To help prevent the last backup from being overwritten, turn off autosyncing so that you have to overtly start a sync. To turn off go iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods...".
