We need more information. Is it disabled because you got your password wrong too many times? What is the exact message?

it doesn't say that but that's what I suspect because I did try various potential passwords after my first try to unlock it failed. . It says also 'connect to itunes' but once I did that my message was iTunes cannot connect to the phone without the passcode
