Q: we purchased our Imac in 2012 but I can't find the airplay icon's on it anywhere???  can anyone help?

I am trying to use airplay with our imac and apple tv.  The imac is a early 2012 model.  The apple TV is brand new.  the Icon is not on my toolbar and not in the system preferences>displays either...  I just ran an upgrade so we are all up to date... is there anything else I can try?

Mac OS X 10.6.8

    Hi Tarynfrombc,

AirPlay can only be used for IOS devices (iPad, iPhone, etc.)

AirPlay Mirroring can be used for certain Mac models that are running OSX Mountain Lion. If you are running 10.6.8 OS on your Mac, then you cannot use AirPlay Mirroring. You would need to upgrade the Mac to Mountain Lion 10.8.3.

Here is a support article about AirPlay Mirroring:

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
