Time machine is creating 2 back-up folders for1MBP i.e HD and HD1

This is for my one MBP that I am backing up. It started doing this a few months back. I need to transfer my data to the new MBP,but am not sure which one to restore since they have different dates and sizes? I opened them up and saw basically which one is the most relevant. How can I rectify this that it only creates one backup folder and not 2?😕

Not using time capsule just an external HD using time maching. It was workign fine for a year and I happenedto see this last month when I was looking for something in the back-up folders.
