Mail conflict with Quicktime X?

hi folks, don't know if thi has been covered or not, but;

has anyone found a huge problem between Mt. Lion Mail (6.3) and QuickTime X ?

when I try and attach any media file (audio and/or video) to an email, it takes forever to attach and sometimes crashes Mail.

and if I try to open Mail - and the last msg. tI was looking at contained a media file - it can take Mail up to 2 mintues of beachball to finally open.

it only happens in Mt. Lion with the dreaded QuickTime X - *never* had problems with QuickTime 7 or before...
